Previously, he has served as the Federal Minister of National Food Security and Research, from 19 November 2019 to 6 April 2020, And as the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms from 20 August 2018 to 18 November 2019. He has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2002-2008, 2013-2018 and 2018-current day.
