What is the nature of the charges brought against her?
After cousins Hashim Ijazuddin and Saqib Hussain died in an accident on the A46 in Leicestershire on February 11, 2022, Mahek Bukhari and her mother Ansreen Bukhari were charged with murder.
Along with the mother and daughter, her friend Natasha Akhtar was indicted.
Leicester residents Raees Jamal and Rekan Karwan were also accused with murder.
At around 1:30 a.m., Hashim and Saqib were driving on the A46 in Leicestershire.
Their silver Skoda Fabia drove off the road and into a centre reservation.
A grey Audi TT and a blue Seat Leon were noticed close, Leicester Magistrates Court heard.
All of the automobiles were travelling at high speeds, and one of them was said to have caught fire.
Hashim and Saqib were declared deceased at the hospital.
According to Prosecutor Mohammed Zarandouz, the defendants pursued the victims from Sainsbury’s on Melton Road in Leicester until their car “went off the road” and split in two.
One of the victims dialled 999 during the chase.
According to Mr. Zarandouz,
“Unfortunately, the call was disconnected due to a loud scream from the caller.”
Hashim and Saqib were on their way to meet a friend who was “down.”
Tony Yarwood, a Detective Chief Inspector, stated:
“We are appealing anyone who was driving in the area in the early hours to come forward if they have dashcam evidence.”
“We are attempting to put together the actions of all the automobiles involved, and any footage of them will aid our inquiry.”
A 20-year-old guy detained on suspicion of murder was subsequently freed from police custody and will face no further charges.
Family Members Pay Tribute to the Victims
Following the unfortunate tragedy, family members paid their respects to the cousins.
Sikander Hayat stated of his son Hashim, “Hashim was my favourite son, he had a wonderful spirit, and I feel honoured by Allah to have enjoyed 21 years with him.”
“He borrowed the Skoda from his grandfather since his cousin Saqib requested him for a ride to Leicestershire to meet a buddy.”
