Jubin Nautiyal is an Indian singer-songwriter. He won the upcoming Male Vocalist award at the 8th Mirchi Music Awards in 2016 for Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s song “Zindagi Kuch Toh Bataa.” Many more prizes have been bestowed upon Nautiyal for his outstanding singing and performance. Throughout his career, he performed a number of successful songs. Apart from that, he has recorded songs in a variety of Indian languages.

Early Years

He finished eighth grade at St. Joseph’s Academy in Dehradun. Following that, he continued his education at the Welham Boys’ School in Dehradun, where he formally studied music as a subject and built a foundation in classical music. He also learnt to play the guitar, piano, harmonium, and drums. He moved to Mumbai in 2007 after finishing high school and enrolled at Mithibai College. He pursued his musical studies and immersed himself in the Indian cinema music culture.

During this period, A R Rehman praised the quality of his voice and advised him to continue working on it for a few more years before entering the Indian music business. Mrs. Vandana Srivastava, her school’s teacher, trained her. His guru Sri Samanta also taught him further music in Hindustani classical music. Jubin moved to Banaras to study light classical with Channulal Mishra. He also studied western music at a music institution in Chennai, where he had the opportunity to study under famous guitarist Prasanna. Jubin featured in the television music reality programme X Factor in 2011, when he was one of the top 25 contestants.
