Bollywood would never be able to match the scale of South Indian films, which have their own dedicated fanbase. The popularity of regional films, particularly South Indian films, has skyrocketed since the emergence of on-demand streaming services. More non-Hindi/non-English language content is now available, thanks to subtitles.
Samantha Akkineni, Mime Gopi, Uday Mahesh, Azhagam Perumal, and Devadarshini were among the South Indian performers that participated in the recently launched web series Family Man 2.
While the language barrier appears to be lessening, numerous performers, including those well-known in the South, have turned down offers to star in these blockbuster Bollywood films.
Anushka Shetty
Anushka Shetty, one of the most well-known actresses in the South, rose to international prominence with SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali. Did you know that in 2011, she turned down Rohit Shetty’s Singham? She was offered the part that Kajal Aggarwal finally got. Due to her hectic schedule, she has turned down several more Hindi films, including Ittefaq.
Mahesh Babu
Mahesh Babu had a major effect in Telugu film. He is well-known on a global scale, yet he has steadfastly refused to appear in Bollywood films. He appears to like to stay close to his roots.
Fahadh Faasil

Faasil also stated that he has had offers from Bollywood. He stated that he may take on a position when he feels confident enough to be a member of the business. He feels that he is only receiving decent parts due to Malayalam films, and he would be eternally grateful to Mollywood for that.
Nayanthara
Remember the Chennai Express song “One to three, four, get on the dance floor?” Nayanthara might have shared screen time with Shah Rukh Khan, but she turned down the opportunity for reasons best known to her. Later in the song, Priyamani from The Family Man was seen shaking her leg.
Arjun Allu
If rumours are to be believed, Allu Arjun was offered Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaam. The film was to be distributed in a variety of languages, and Allu Arjun was recruited to play the lead role. He is alleged to have rejected the picture for reasons best known to him. The film was then offered to Hrithik Roshan, and then Salman Khan was approached.
Allu Arjun was also offered Ranveer Singh’s 83, but he declined.
Nivin Pauly
Malayali actor Nivin Pauly has stated that he will not feel comfortable doing films in Tamil, Telugu, or Hindi, but he also stated that he would like to challenge himself by crossing boundaries. Pauly was apparently set to star in a project alongside Anurag Kashyap. When the rumours began to circulate, a photo of him with the filmmaker became popular on social media. However, there was no further update. According to rumour, he was offered the character that Vicky Kaushal performed in Manmarziyaan.
Pauly was also the initial pick for Sushant Singh Rajput’s Chhichhore. He once stated that he sacrificed his Bollywood breakthrough for Kayamkulam Kochunn.
Rashmika Mandanna
Mandanna, dubbed “India’s National Crush,” turned down the Hindi adaptation of Jersey, starring Shahid Kapoor. She disclosed the reason for rejecting the film in an interview with IANS. “I received that chance as a result of the decisions I’ve made up to this point. This is not a poor decision in my opinion. ‘Jersey’ is in desperate need of your presence. It nearly seems plausible. I’m going mad right now, working just on commercials. Imagine trying to put off a performance like ‘Jersey.'”
