Susanna Gibson decided to enter politics after observing how the COVID-19 outbreak affected her patients and the surrounding area. To address the state’s healthcare issues, she believes Virginia needs more leaders with medical knowledge, experience, and dedication. She also supports increasing the minimum wage, expanding Medicaid, and spending money on environmental protection, criminal justice reform, and public education. Ralph Northam, a former governor of Virginia, gave Susanna Gibson’s campaign his support. For her efforts to stop gun violence, she was also selected as a 2023 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate. She will run against David Owen, a Republican businessman, on election day, November 7, 2023.
