A hundred people were stranded on the rooftop of Hong Kongs World Trade Centre on Wednesday after a fire broke out.
Those awaiting rescue were on the top floor of the 38-storey skyscraper, with authorities carrying out an evacuation after a major blaze, which reportedly started in an electrical switch room.
Hong Kong police said at least eight people were injured and have been sent to hospital. No fatalities have been reported.
Among the injured – most suffering smoke inhalation – was a woman in her 60s, reported the South China Morning Post.
A witness, Ernest Chan, told the paper: Initially we were walking down but at around the 17th floor we heard that theres heavy smoke, so we decided to head to the roof instead.
