Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez may marry next month.

DUBAI: Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that his wedding to long-term girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez might be as soon as a month away, and that he is “1000 percent” convinced it will take place.

Georgina, who recently turned 28, reveals in a new Netflix programme on her rags-to-riches life that she wants to marry her football star lover and will say ‘yes’ when he asks for her hand in marriage. In a 2019 interview, the Manchester United striker stated that they will be man and wife “one day,” adding that it was his mother’s desire.

In the Netflix docuseries ‘I Am Georgina,’ the 36-year-old went one step further and said they may be only weeks away from the altar after dating for more than five years and stated they are planning to expand their family with the birth of twins in April.

Cristiano, who spent thousands of dollars to give Georgina the ultimate birthday present of a laser show on the facade of Dubai’s famous Burj Khalifa tower, said after his girlfriend joked with friends about a wedding: “I always tell Georgina that when we get that click, like everything in our life, and she knows what I’m talking about.”

“It could be in a year, or it could be in six months or in a month. I’m 1000 percent sure it will happen.”

The footballer’s wedding announcement came as Georgina said they aim to live in Portugal once Cristiano retires, as the striker admitted he feels “free as a bird” in his hometown and “less observed” than in other parts of Europe.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is having a new residence built on a vast plot of land in Quinta do Marinha on the so-called Portuguese Riviera, half an hour from Lisbon Airport and 10 minutes from the centre of the seaside town of Cascais.

Georgina, who has made multiple visits to Portugal with her partner since they began dating in 2016 when he strolled into the Gucci shop where she worked in Madrid, said:

“Everyone’s so considerate with us in Portugal even though it’s Cristiano’s homeland. You walk down the street and everyone’s keeping their distance. It’s a comfortable place to spend summer. In the future we’ll probably live in Portugal.”
