Last night, a law enforcement agency raided former interior minister Sheikh Rashid’s media centre in Islamabad in order to apprehend him in the Masjid-e-Nabwi case.
A house in Sector F-Seven Four was the site of the operation. The raid was confirmed by the Awami League’s Sheikh Rashid.
Law enforcement officials arrived late at night, according to former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, but left without being arrested. According to Pakistani media, Islamabad police were present during the raid, as were Faisalabad police.
Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, the nephew of former federal minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, was detained at the Islamabad airport in the early hours of Sunday after arriving from Saudi Arabia.
The arrest was made in relation to the chanting of anti-Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation slogans at Masjid-e-Nabawi.
Shafiq reportedly flew to Pakistan on a private airline, according to sources close to the airport staff.
Rashid confirmed his nephew’s detention, saying he had just arrived in Pakistan after performing Umrah when he was apprehended.
“Despite the fact that none of us were in Saudi Arabia, cases against us were still filed.” Following the registration of cases, homes are raided,” Rashid said, condemning the arrest.
