India suspends bus driver for letting a monkey ‘drive’

BANGALORE: An Indian bus driver who let a monkey behind the wheel of his automobile was suspended on Saturday after a video of the incident went viral, sparking outrage and humor.

The 36-year-old driver is seen smiling and patting the langur monkey as a result of it sits atop the wheel of the shifting bus in footage shot by a passenger.

“Driver M Prakash has been taken off obligation for allowing the monkey to take a seat down on the steering wheel and take care of it,” T. S. Latha, a spokesperson for the federal authorities’s road transport firm in southern Karnataka state acknowledged.

“Passengers’ safety is paramount and the driving pressure cannot hazard it by allowing a monkey on the steering.” The incident befell on Monday nonetheless authorities solely found of it after the video was shared on social media, Latha added.
