French Perfume giant Steps Ahead to Combat with Coronavirus

The French Luxury goods group LVMH will soon begin producing hand sanitizer at three of its perfume and cosmetics factories and will distribute to French hospitals to deal with coronavirus outbreak.

International news sources say that 12 tonnes of sanitizer will be created this week rather than Christian Dior, Guerlain and Givenchy scents and make-up usually made at the three French sites. Popular brands including Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Moet & Chandon are owned by LVMH.

Surprising fact is that the sanitizer will be delivered “at no charge” to French health authorities and 39 public hospitals in Paris.

Paris hospitals chief Martine Hirsch informed the international news agency, “I wish to thank LVMH for acting so quickly: they made us this offer on Saturday night at 9pm (2000 GMT), and confirmed it on Sunday,”

Hospitals in France did not run out of sanitizers, but supplies are “strained”.

A spokeswoman for the Paris hospital informed that some other companies are also willing to donate supplies.

Spread of the virus have increase the fear that hand gels may run out of the stock. Many pharmacies are limiting the customers to one small bottle per person.

Government has issued a decree restricting prices after reports some retailers were trying to generate extra profit from would-be buyers, a 100ml bottle now costing no more than three euros.

Producers in France say that they may hire employees to meet the demand, as officials have insisted strict hand cleaning among measures to deal with the outbreak.
